Need better cooling for my PC...

#1SychosisDragonPosted 9/4/2013 5:14:04 PM
I bought a CoolerMaster case that came with 3 fans about 4 years ago, but it doesn't seem to be cutting it anymore since my video card's overheating more than it should (I'm going to replace the video card soon as well)
But I'm not sure what I should get. Should I just replace the fans, or switch to liquid cooling?
Links would also be very useful. Thank you.

Your card shouldn't be overheating at all. Have you tried cleaning the dust out of your case?

Can your case house a custom loop? Otherwise, liquid cooling won't be an option. You can add extra case fans and see if that helps. You can also turn up the fans on your GPU using Afterburner or CCC or Nvidia Control Panel to see if that helps.

The case is pretty much dust-free. The card's seen it's fair share of time and use though, it's old by standards nowadays.
And I'm not really sure what you mean by custom loop. I'm not very educated on cooling. The case I have is very large compared to the motherboard it's housing.

You could try to reapply the thermal paste on the video card, it could have gone bad after all that use.

And when you say is dust free, have you been cleaning it often, or you just assume it is?

Thermal paste is something I didn't think of. It is an older ATI Radeon though, not even sure how to do it. As for the dust, I clean the dust out often, so I'm not assuming, I know.
