Remember when "DLC" was called "Expansion Pack"

That doesn't really work there.

Also, there is a difference between the two. Namely size, features, and delivery method.

First of all, Expansion packs can be bought online and in stores, while DLC can't. Expansion packs usually revolve around creating a whole new aspect to a game, while DLC is usually just an inclusion that gives you more ways to use stuff you already have.

It's like the difference between a map pack and a Sims expansion. One just gives you different areas to run around in, while the latter gives new "races" to play as, a new world to explore, as well new jobs, tasks, and interactions with your character.

Well the thing about expansions is that they take long to make and they are good whereas some DLCs don't need long to roll out but most devs abuse it to milk money out of customers.

I do miss expansions and I hate the that most devs roll out DLCs that they call expansions at the price of a full game.

I meant to say Expansion Discs, but fair enough. My point was more that DLC is only available digitally.

Only because you classify "Expansion" as something that has a disc, while defining no differing characteristic between it and DLC outside of said disc. But that's like saying "indie" games aren't games because they don't have discs. The format can't be the classification.

That's an entirely new (stand alone) campaign. Is that not an expansion? Because it's not available on disc.

I didn't mean they MUST be available. Again, my point was more that DLC is ONLY available digitally, while an expansion can *possibly* be bought physically.

That + the fact that DLCs only last as long as they're available online. Company goes bankrupt? Server gets busted? You formatted your PC? Say goodbye to those digital-only contents.

I have both RA2 + Yuri's Revenge for over 10 years now and I can reinstall them as and when I like.

At that point, it's not "Downloadable Content", is it now?
