Monitor flickering/auto adjusting problem?

#1XxTwisted26xXPosted 9/5/2013 7:17:42 PM
My monitor keeps flickering (brightness goes down or up). I'm guessing this has to do with the monitors built in auto adjust feature. Thing is, going in the menu, there is no auto adjust feature, except for power saving, which is turned off. The online manual says it has a thing called MagicBright but I see no option for it in my menu settings.

Monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster T240HD

Anyone? Could these also be symptoms of a faulty GPU?

If the monitor already has some miles on it then it could be the backlight on its way out.

Think of how fluorescent lamps look when they're near the end of their life and how they often flicker... its kinda like that.

Hmm it might be that. I had this 2008 Dynex TV I traded for this Samsung monitor at work. They have literally had this Samsung T240HD monitor (it's also a TV) since 2010 playing patient education videos on a lopp for the past 3 years without ever turning it off :O. So I guess... maybe the backlight is dying haha. Going to see if I can trade this back for the crappy Dynex TV.

Any recommendations on a crystal clear gaming monitor?
