Is Aliens vs Predator just as bad as Colonial Marines?

After 6 months and patches that shouldn't have been necessary to begin with the game is actually...not as bad?

Indeed. You gotta problem with that? Take it up with my dynamite---er, complaint department.

It's a decent--though very average shooter. Plenty of action, pretty solid and enjoyable gunplay, solid co-op play. And as DV8 said---PLENTY of Aliens to shoot. Just as many, if not quite a few more than Human enemies.

Maybe not now - But imagine paying full price or even the $30 I paid for it at launch to be greeted with a steaming pile of ****.

Sounds like someone is disgruntled that they bought a game at launch without giving it time to hit reviews and find out if it was awful or not.

Take the game for what it is now. It's cheaper, it's been given some TLC and been fixed in many ways to make it a more competent and more or less enjoyable Co-Op experience.

Reviews were being held back purposely until after the launch. I had pre-purchased the game months prior.

Have you seen the videos they released during development? Yeah. It looks nothing like what they released.

Do you need glasses? That's what he said and he's right. It was a good shooter. Also those that were complaining about shooting humans more than aliens....wat?

And you actually think the game was better off using humans as enemies more so than the titled protagonists?

Nah son, he's saying people were complaining that you were shooting humans more than Aliens, that's not the case.

And yet, people wonder why it's so commonly said that pre-ordering games IS A BAD IDEA.

You're not even guaranteed the game will be functional on launch day, much less going in sight unseen with a game that no one in the public has actually played yet.

And seriously...There weren't that many human enemies in the game *I* played.

I am not trying to be snide here, but do you know anything about the development of the game?

1. I am a Aliens/Sci-fi fan. The game intrigued me enough to warrant a day 1 purchase due to what we saw.
2. The game from videos and playable demos prior to release look nothing like what we got.

The game was previewed by journalists and the info they revealed looked like an awesome game. The PAX demo from almost 2 years ago looked better and played better than what we got.

This video sums up the game when it first released. You guys see it as a $5 budget title bought on a whim. Others actually were deceived into believing the game was actually good.

Hmm seems the patching has added a lot of that back. I remember seeing the hanging light with its dynamic properties and the glass cracking.

It's not that AVP (2010) was bad.....just underwhelming.

Personally, I don't like mixing the Alien and Predator universes - Alien was a groundbreaking and thoughtful piece of art, and Aliens kept much of the thoughtfulness intact while also ramping up the "popcorn" factor to attain wider appeal. But Predator has always been a straight popcorn "**** exploding" type of series. I know it isn't "canon", per-se, but still - I was looking forward to a modern, pure, Alien videogame.

Alien, and (to a slightly lesser extent) Aliens are two of the best Sci-Fi movies ever made IMO. Not to mention they inspired Metroid - the best videogame series ever (so long as we all pretend Other:M didn't happen). To see a true Alien game, not an AVP title, fall so flat on its face was a crushing blow to a lot of people.

I would have much rather seen a unique sidestory type of deal staring Ripley, or perhaps even a descendant of hers (maybe even a daughter). An open ended First Person Adventure, a'la Metroid Prime trilogy, where you explored a desolate planet or space station - figuring out what happened while having to avoid or engage the occasional crafty Xeno. Done properly it could have been a tense, haunting, remarkable game. Instead we got a cookie cutter boom boom FPS where you play as meatheads that constantly make forced references to the source material in absolutely painful and heartless ways. Xenos don't even attack you or sneak up on you....they just glitchily hobble up to your character and then stand there with a stupid look on their face. Xenos are supposed to be horrifying, cunning, brutal creatures with no focus other than survival and success; so when they moonwalk up to you and then stand there with their arms in the air while making a pathetic "rawr" sound.....it's ******* insulting.

Not even close. Try Skyrim if you want a game that equals Colonial Marines.
