How many games per year do you pay full price for?

Good thing you can sell console games then

For barely a fifth of their buying price. And that's if they're fairly new. 60$ is an insane price tag for short games with little to no replay value.

A fifth or not it's better than not being able to sell it back at all. And if you sell it immediately after you beat it, assuming that you got it brand new, you can get much much more than 20% back.
Like you said $60 is an insane price tag for a short game with little to no replay value On Any System.

This copy of The Last of Us is $37 atm and there is still more than 2 hours left. The game came out in May

See, the problem with this line of thinking is that you no longer own the game anymore. You can't exactly compare prices with a game you own, and a game you essentially rented.

When you play a bad $60 game, it feels good knowing you only rented it.
But hey if the game is good, keep it and it's yours, it's not like Sony or Microsoft can do anything about that copy or account of yours, unlike Steam.

FYI getting banned from steam does not prevent you from accessing your library, it prevents you from buying more games. And on top of that, do understand how hard it is to get account banned on steam? Unless you're committing fraud or are phishing for accounts then getting banned is just not a possibility.

And selling a game is not like a rental because you aren't getting a 100% return. If I buy a bad 10$ game then that's 10$ wasted, if I buy a bad 60$ game and sell it for 40$ then that's still 20$ wasted AND I can't play the game anymore. Of course, this is implying that gamestop would pay that much, and they won't. So you'd have to sell it to some poor schmuck to get anywhere close to a reasonable return on it.

In the last 3 years I've bought 2 full price games. One was Oblivion GOTY for $20, and the other was GW2.

And I didn't even really pay full price for GW2. I had been planning on spending $60, and it had dropped to $50. I was still on the fence until someone bought my BBow from Flyff for $30 Amazon credit and I just dropped the extra $20. So it was sort of 60/66% off.

1-3. Always a couple games I REALLY REALLY can't wait for a good sale. Sadly none so far this year or I guess not sadly? I guess I've saved plenty ;p

Counting "Full price" games as ones I get very close to or before release for $5-10 discount offers...Probably 4-6/7-9.

ONLY counting games I give the full $50/$60 for...MAYBE 1-2. I mean heck, I've pre-ordered $60 games for $40...Kind of hard to just hop on the full price game at that point.

...except Sony and Microsoft can do A LOT about the account of yours (and you're about a million times more likely to have your XBL account banned then Steam) and, unlike Steam, you actually do lose everything you purchased on that account....
