16 gb ram, GTX 770, and i7 4770K. How will this do next gen?

Before I build, I am waiting to see the new AMD cards coming out. As of now I am currently interested in the parts listed above. How well do you think that will do for gaming once the consoles release? I would like to max pretty much everything for 2 years and run things well for an additional 3 years before going to my next build.

Yeah, you won't be able to max every game out, assuming you want at least 1080p and 60 FPS.

I was considering a 780, but the price shoots up drastically. I have about $2000 set aside for the build and plan on buying everything on black friday. But yeah I will post parts closer towards BF to see if I can get good deals that will allow me to get more for less

A 770 will be fine then. You should really upgrade to 1080p minimum for optimal quality imo. That should be your first upgrade. Then go from there.

price shoots up but so does the performance..it's a big gain even over the 770

buying a 780/7990 at a resolution of 1440 X 900 is just a pure, unadulterated waste of money. Like buying a Chevy Aveo with $3000 wheels. Get a 1080p monitor, then upgrade to an EVGA 770SC ACX or something.

I do plan to get a 1080P along with the build... but that is a bit later down the road since I am interested in an oculus rift.

I also wanted a 780, but the prices has gone up about 10% in the last couple of weeks, dang foreign exchange rate. Also somewhat causing the price to be a little wild.Right here one store is selling reference gtx 780 for IDR 10m, while you can already get an MSI Lightning at that price on another store.

I am building a new PC soon, but I think I will wait for 9000 series first, it will knock the price down at the very least. That is unless the store give me an offer I cannot refuse.
