I mean the last i checked games were using no more than 4 gigs of ram not 16, 32, or 64, so what is the point, Benchmarking?? or to showoff?

Do you think that computers can only be used for gaming?

There're more uses for computers than just gaming.

But for gaming, some very high-spec computers have more RAM just-in-case, or for future-proofing (though, generally-speaking, the people that build these computers just build another one in a few years, anyway). At the same time, there are some games that use more than 4 GB. Still other uses include running multiple games at once and RAM drives.

You don't need more than 8 gb, no. Not in any gaming instances I know of so far. What games even uses 4 gb? Yes, 4 gb is not enough because there's more running on your computer than just the game (personally I use 2.26gb idle..!), but so far as to say a game actively takes 4 gb on its own? Thats a number I haven't personally seen.

I've seen some go as far as 2 gb though. That means 4 gb of ram is not, in my opinion, quite enough for an ideal performance. You'd want 8 gb.

Anything more than 8GB is overkill for gaming.

I would say 4gb is the minimum and 8gb would be best.

A huge part of that 2.26GB is just reserved because it's available. It's not actually used by the system.
