Empire: Total War or Napoleon?

I remember reading there were quite a few issues with Empire at release, have they fixed most/ any of them? Is one significantly better gameplay wise?

Shogun 2 is a definite later on down the line, but I just saw some pictures of a fort my family visited and it got me wanting to play a gunpowder era TW game and I was wondering if Empire is too much of a step back from Napoleon.

Napoleon is the better one.

Have they fixed the gunpowder bug?
Or has the hardware advanced enough since then that it doesn't matter?

Empire has a larger scale (Europe, Middle East, North Africa, India and Americas all present in the main campaign). It's also somewhat more micromanage-y.

Napoleon is limited to Europe only in the main campaign (Separate campaign for other areas), but otherwise is more polished than Empire; better graphs, more stable, additional misc. features, etc.

Wait... what?

I personally enjoy Empire more than Napoleon. Napoleon definitely looks better though. You'll find the same AI annoyances in both.

Shogun 2

My favourite of the Total War series so far. That is until they fix Rome 2 with a few more patches.

Empire has a much larger scale, but Napoleon is more refined. I personally would go with Napoleon
