What should I be looking for in a PC that's pre-built?

i had a prebuilt asus, very cool at the time, it came with a i7 920, 9 gigs of ddr3, and a 260 gtx, now i only upgraded psu and 260 gtx to a evga 680 gtx sc, and bought a $1200 hp zr30 w at 1600p on top of that.

Sorry to be 'that guy,' but nothing. Pre-builts typically have cheap power supplies, awful motherboards with most of the BIOS settings unavailable (including overclocking) and they run hot because they use cases that are too small with no wire management and not enough case fans. Not only is it cheaper to put one together yourself, not only do you get to choose what's in there and not waste any money on parts you don't want, not only will it not come pre-loaded with bloatware, but it will run better and last longer too. As many people are fond of saying, putting a PC together now is not much more complicated than putting together Lego pieces.

Well they do sell the parts separately too. Just say what parts I need. Only at frys. Not online.
