problem with Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition High Res Pack

#1sonicteam2k1Posted 9/7/2013 2:20:42 PM
Sometimes my frame rate will drop like sub 30, as in 17 or fps. I should be able to max this mod with no issue. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm using the GOG version. Specs are...

i5 3570K
HD 7970 GHz Edition
8GB RAM
Windows 7 64bit

everything else works fine just this little problem.

The Polymer engine is still a WIP, and hasn't been optimized much. There's really not much you can do about the frame rate right now - it can chug even on beefy computers. The older Polymost engine looks nicer than stock DN3D, and should run smoothly, but unfortunately the latest version of HRP does not support Polymost.

Basically, these are your options:
1: Use Polymost (it's included with eDuke32) and live without HRP
2: Use Polymer and live with frame rate drops
3: Upgrade your PC, which might not completely eliminate frame rate drops yet
4: Learn C and help the eDuke32 team optimize Polymer
