Price: As low as Possible
Uses: Surfing online, watching movies, simple schoolwork (word processing mostly)
Screen Size: Bigger is better.
Weight: Not a factor.
Battery Life: Will usually be plugged in, not a huge factor.
Storage: SSD preferred, doesn't need more than 250 gigs of space, could make do with less.
Processor: Any

Other: No peripherals needed, anything with 4 gigs+ ram is more than enough.

I can always just check newegg and be done there, but a lot of times people find crazy deals on these forums so I'd thought I would ask.

I'm now looking to recommend this one:
http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-X75A-DS51-17-3-Inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B00B7X6OYA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

To my friend. Seems the best combo of price/size/reliability/performance.

I wish laptops with small SSDs as the hard drives were more common and existed in the lower price brackets.

You're pretty much describing a Chromebook. It does everything you're looking for for cheap.
