What PC gamers don't seem to understand is Developers don't like making games, and then having the player base not want to pay full price. Most AAA PC games are lucky to make bank at full price. With everyone waiting until they are like 15 on steam and even then complaining that the price is too high.

But selling the game for less on Steam actually makes them more than a fullpriced retail box game in a store where the majority of the price goes to the store (don't forget manufacturing costs too), whereas Steam takes 10-15%.

AAA cinematic experiences are on consoles. PC has hardcore games like Rome 2 and X Rebirth that aren't made for mass appeal.
And games intended for hardcore gamers don't need to sell as much. CoH2 sold about 300k copies and that was a success for SEGA.
