Can anyone tell me their experiences with SteelSeries headsets?

I was thinking about buying this headset

I'd like to know if anyone has a similar pair, and if they're worth the money.

I've got a non-headset version (without the mic) and it's great for the price. Good sound quality, very light and very comfortable.

Not a "headset" with microphone and all, but I had a pair of their open air headphones. The sound was great, the comfort was great, the price was good. I just stepped on them and cracked one of the sides, so I gave them to my nephew.

I had a pair for over three years, they were comfortable and the sound quality was decent, sadly they died when the cord got caught in one of the wheels on my chair.

I'll be honest... they sound pretty good, but depending on the model, they aren't ALL comfortable.

I've owned 1 steelseries headset. besides being very comfortable, the bass in them sucked and they felt very 'plasticy'

While not as bad as Razer, Steelseries stuff is very overpriced IMO

I had the V2 Black, and it depends on the size of your head. I wear all my other headsets at about medium settings, but the V2s top made contact with my head and it drove me nuts. In theory that suspension band is the only thing that's supposed to touch the top of your head, but depending on your head size/shape it may not. I paid $60 for mine at HHgreg and the sound is nice, but I wouldn't pay the $80 or $90 that the msrp is.

I've had both the D3 one and the v2 gold/black. GF has gold/black as well.

Both are really flimsy and can break very easily if they fall. They have 2 wires that hold the headset in place over your head. Those in turn are held in place by 2 tiny screws in a plastic casing. If that takes a dive, it will break and won't stay on your head.

D3 one is SUPER frail and cheap. All plastic, and KO plastic feel at that. Dont get it
V2 regular ones are also pretty frail. Slightly tougher plastic, but the earpads get out of shape. Also if you wear glasses, the earpads will push the sides of your glasses into your head.

They are nice, but after a while on your head they begin to hurt. RMA service is REALLY slow, takes 2-3 weeks to get a hold of them. I had to file a compliant with the BBB to get them to respond to my RMA. When I got a new one, I just sold it on ebay as it wasnt worth keeping.

Also the bass is pretty bad on them. I had $20 earbuds with better bass to be honest.

For the price, I'd say get them for under $60 shipped. Their site's cheapest shipping is $10 by the way, depending on where you live [I'm in the US]. Don't buy the Diablo 3 one, and for even 70-80, I wouldn't get it.
