Yes, but the performance benefit for gaming is negligible. Assuming the HT feature is eventually used and not obsoleted by a new type of technology a far better processor will be available.

i would say the i7 is much better, you said in another post you are using the i7 920 so guys would the i7 4770k be a big jump or not noticable at all?

This reminds me of what people were saying about dual core vs quad core. Then the dual cores were choking while the quad cores were still smooth sailing. The next-gen consoles will have 8 threads, so I can totally see HT helping out. It's not like the 4770k would be too slow to handle it either, since the next-gen consoles are using a mid-low level CPU.

You could always get an Ivy Bridge Xeon (4 cores, 8 threads, no IGP) for the price of an i5.
