Seems obvious but I don't have the UEFI Firmware Settings option

If you read this signature, then that meant that I had control of what you read for 5 SECONDS!!

Unless Win8 is super special your BIOS is actually located on the motherboard and has nothing to do with your Data Storage or OS................................. -_-;;;

I remembered reading something about accessing the BIOS from Windows 8.

Note that this new method only applies if you purchased a new computer with Windows 8 preinstalled – these will use UEFI. However, if you’ve installed Windows 8 on an existing computer that uses the legacy BIOS system, you’ll access the BIOS in the same way as always by pressing the key that appears during your boot process.

Well heres a few things i'm thinking of right off the bat...:

1. Did you read the article you linked to me?? It clearly states:

Note that this new method only applies if you purchased a new computer with Windows 8 preinstalled – these will use UEFI. However, if you’ve installed Windows 8 on an existing computer that uses the legacy BIOS system, you’ll access the BIOS in the same way as always by pressing the key that appears during your boot process.

So is this pre-installed?

2. He said , and I quote, " Windows 8 PCs boot so fast that you’d only have a 200 millisecond (that’s 0.2 seconds) window of opportunity to press the key combination."

This doesn't even make sense. You cannot hit F2 to get into the BIOS once Windows has started booting. SSDs and OS come after POST, after the splash screen, after you cannot hit F2 anymore. His statement is literally wrong and you can tell he is either ignorant as hell about computers or misleading people..

3. Why do you need to get into the BIOS after booting up? Even if you could, it would be more efficient to do it prior to booting to a Windows Environment. There's not many changes you can make in a BIOS that you would want to do while the PC is running, unless it's small stuff disabling a certain boot device or something which i'm still struggling to find a reason to do this after booting into windows.

So ya, just my two cents I'm still confused by this entire topic.

Nope. Just saying that I saw it somewhere before, so I did a Google search and linked to that article. No need for me to read it as I was only stating that I had heard about it before.

Ya, you're right. No reason at all to not spread misinformation by confirming information you're passing around. No biggy.

yeah, you're right. Why bother clicking the link and getting the information you need in the first paragraph. Better make a topic on GameFAQs to exhibit total ignorance.
