Been a console gamer since '94, Just got a decent PC. What to Play?

Basically I just got a computer that can do more than just browse the internet and type documents, and I'm just discovering steam for the first time.

recently I've been playing bioshock infinite on it, but I want to know what PC only gems I've been missing out on.

So give me some suggestions; PC exclusive must plays from the past 20 years.

I mean....that could be a pretty long list. You should probably at least start to narrow it down by saying what genres you're interested in.

RPG
RTS
Turn based strategy
etc.

If I just wanted a list of PC exclusives I would just google it. I'm just trying to get the best exclusives in the opinions of people who have been long time PC gamers.

We could spend 500 posts and just begin to scratch the surface.

You have decades and eras of gaming. A dozen+ genres. Sub genres for all those. Indie games vs AAA games. et cetera.

Should we assume you want more modern/demanding games? It feels like we should, but it'd be nice to know.

I generally hate RTS games, but maybe since I'm not a pc gamer and just haven't gotten into any good ones. No puzzle games that arent named portal. also no racing or sports games, but everything else I enjoy

RPG's, Platformers, Action, and especially Stealth games are all good.

Team Fortress 2 (free to play) and Civilization 5 (not).

oh and FPS games too, but interesting ones like bioshock. and I enjoy sci-fi settings over fantasy.

I edited but it might be easy to miss, but S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series

Rayman Legends just came out and I've heard very, very good things about it.

X-Com Enemy Unknown is great too.
