Why does my computer keep freezing

#1Shah138Posted 9/10/2013 10:34:25 AM
I'm pretty sure this has something to do with my drivers. I have a gtx 560ti and when I try to use the latest beta drivers 326.80 or pretty much anything before that up to like, March or something, my computer just freezes up at random points for a while, makes a beep noise, and continues. More recently it's been freezing and not working again until I restart it but that might be a different issue all together. Currently I'm using the latest not beta drivers 320.49 and it's freezing to the point that I have to restart. Whats causing this and how do I fix it?

How is your CPU and RAM usage when this happens?
What programs are taking up the most resources?
Have you tried rolling back to the latest non-beta driver?

Do I just go and install this?

Seems to be the most recent not beta driver that isn't the one I'm using right now. Firefox seems to be using up the most resources I guess according to the process window in the task manager.

most likely it's faulty display drivers

uninstall with Driver Sweeper in safe mode and reinstall fresh

you can also check for any fatal system errors with Run -> eventvwr.msc, but freezes are almost never recorded. still, it might pay to check.

Wait, am I opening Driver Sweeper in safe mode(idk how to do that), or am I booting up into safe mode and then running driver sweeper? I have the Event Viewer open, it says I have 1 critical error in the last hour and it's source is "Kernel Power", and for the last 7 days I have 1 error for Nvidia Open GL.

I was having a freezing issue with my gtx 560 on firefox after updating my drivers, I rolled back to ver 214 and the problems stop.
