My friend is looking for a new gaming PC, no more than $1,000

With Battlefield 4 coming out real soon, my friend is looking to upgrade his 4-year old gaming PC. I said that I'd price out the parts and help build it for him. His criteria:

- Must be an Intel processor (hates AMD for some reason)
- Must be able to overclock the processor to 4+ Ghz
- No SSD drives (wants to have all his games installed on the same drive Windows is on)
- Needs a DVD drive (has a lot of his Steam and Origin games backed up)
- Must have a Radeon card (believes all new games will be optimized more since the next-gen consoles are AMD-based)
- No more than $1,000 to spend on all parts

Here's what I came up with: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1Cd7o

Guess what he said? The build is not good enough! WHAT!?!? Does anyone see anything wrong with this build?

Tell your friend to increase his budget. Your build is pretty much spot on for the price range. Maybe he could get away with a cheaper case.

If he thinks he could make a better build he should pick out the parts himself.

Show him this

Recommended specs for BF4 wants a 7870, 7950 gets slightly more performance.

I think your build look fine.

He's right.

What part of the build is he right on? I simply don't understand!

Or

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1CeEp

If you want to CFX down the road and are worried that 650w isn't enough for OC'ing the cards.

Or

If you want a better 750w PSU, but costs more (still about the same price as the build you linked).

I showed him your suggested builds and he said that it's STILL NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

He's now deciding to just go the prebuilt route, currently looking at Alienware at the moment. If that's what he wants, fine. I don't care! He's driving me nuts right now!

The ****?

He does realize he's going to get worse performance with that budget by going prebuilt right?

Yeah, I don't know what to say then. Tell your friend good luck.

Edit: I really don't understand what your friend wants out of ~$1000.
