Not much love for niche games?

So just wondering why are there some reasonably well known games that is hardly ever talked about, written reviews and walkthroughs about?

I can't think of many examples, but I brought up this topic after started playing M&M Heroes VI, and noticing a lack of walkthroughs and player written reviews while Indie games (even more niche?) like Hotline Miami, FTL etc are more popular?

Because it's a niche game, and doesn't appeal to many people.
That's like asking why an underground post-glam speed folk metal band doesn't appear on the radio, even if it's really good.

If one "more niche" is more popular then its not "more niche" at all.

I'm not sure what sort of comments you're expecting. Why is something more popular than something else? You can surely answer that very simple question yourself.

It's just big budget niche games seem to be an oxymoron concept. I mean for instance is Total Series, considered a niche game genre? (probably not?) But then Anno 2070 is...

The problem with HoMM VI not getting many walkthroughs is because HoMM III exists. That game set the bar so high that no one is buying the sequels.

To succeed in this new world, you have to sell yourself. You go to a brand-name college, not to imbibe the wisdom of its professors, but to make impressions and connections. You pick a niche that can bring attention to yourself and then develop your personal public relations efforts to let the world know who you are.

Niche, by definition, means not widely popular. As soon as a "niche" game becomes more popular, it is no longer niche, it is mainstream.

That's my case. Wouldn't it be nice if they'd just rerelease a bunch of those older better games with new engines and graphics? Not that HOMM 3 needs better graphics to be awesome, but some of those old games could use that bump up with the newer technology. I'd buy them all over again.
