How much do you suppose it costs to port a game to PC from a console?

I remember Remedy saying they made all their money back within 48 hours when they released Alan Wake on PC. Not sure what that game sold in those 2 days, but I'd say it did relatively well. I would think porting from 360 to PC would be a pretty painless, and cheap process.

Anyone have any idea?

$20-30.

That's just about impossible to answer.

With 250,000,000$ budget, there's cash in the budget for a PC port.

I'm talking about GTAV by the way.

Most multiplats today aren't really ports. They just hit a different compile button for each platform.

Well as I understand it, it's a simple find and replace operation, then edit a couple core modules for file access and file locations.

It might be more complicated than that, but there are some blogs online of people porting games and saying how little time it actually took.

They develop the console game on...wait for it...a PC. I'd imagine it's pretty freaking easy.

Isn't it a lot harder to port from 360 to PS3 since PS3 doesn't have DirectX?

Well no s***. But if it was so easy, why would Remedy have to have 48 hours worth of sales to recoup their costs? Even if it only sold 10k copies, that'd be $300,000 to port from 360 to PC. If it was so freaking easy I would imagine it wouldn't cost nearly half a million dollars.

I'd say it's moreso the complicated ass CPU in the PS3.
