What's a good piece of video editing software?

#1GilgameshSwordsPosted 9/12/2013 2:13:39 AM
Hey guys

So I am aiming to do Let's Plays for a wide number of games. I have a really good webcam (Logitech C920), FRAPS and a pair of good surround sound headphones with an excellent microphone is coming today. So I would be recording my face with my webcam software, and the game with FRAPS - so I am looking for a good video editing software to splice these all together - i.e. my face in the top right/left on top of the video, whilst my voice plays along with the game audio. Anyone able to help?

Robbie

Isn't Sony Vegas pretty popular? It's the only one I know of tbh

So either vegas or Premiere? How does this look? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Vegas-Studio-Platinum-Production/dp/B0051M6IPI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1378978026&sr=8-3&keywords=Sony+Vegas

Seems serviceable. Personally, I never understood the appeal of a face cam for most things. It adds very little to the experience, and takes away from the immersion of the game. That's just me, though.

Good luck with your Let's Plays! I have a ton of fun making them, myself.

Edit: There are some free alternatives for video editing, depending on how much post-work you intend on doing. I forget if Videopad has easy-to-use PIP options, but it does the basic stuff nicely. Camtasia isn't free, but the free trial gives you all the options, (and you can cheat it by blocking the program from accessing the internet and feeding it a BS key, as I used to).

I dunno if I would do much post work, all I would really need to do is combine everything

Then you don't need Vegas or Premiere.

Excellent, so check out Videopad? That would let me put the Facecam (when used) on top as well as combine the voice and game audio tracks

Brilliant, video pad is working great I think. Can't quite get it to upload to Youtube though, I put in the username and correct password - or does it want the e-mail instead of Username?
