I got an idea for the Oculus Rift roller coaster sim.

I got this idea after seeing this video.

Have a large fan hooked up in front of said person(Who also has a sound proof headset for maximum immersion.) Have the fan be able to be controlled by the computer via a USB setup... somehow. Have it set to the right times of the sim and you will legitimately feel like you are completely in a roller coaster.

How feasible would this idea be for someone that is smarter with electronics? Not only that, but would you try it?

People need to realize that games are art. Seriously, it's been proven over and over again. I think it's about time to people to man up and finally say this.

Coaster sims never feel like a real coaster. So no, I would just get bored.

The only way to simulate that is to also simulate your the cart's motions. Many theme parks already have something similar with the chairs that move erratically to perform an immersive experience.

Pair it with a chair like this, and it would probably be pretty effective, actually. Still won't get the *authentic* weightless drops, but with the tilting, vibration, visuals, and wind, your brain could go a long way toward filling in the gaps and still give you that feeling in your stomach.

EDIT: I suppose I might actually post the chair... :P

Even if you somehow get a chair that does all of the movement and stuff, you'll still get bored pretty quickly. Is not like you can ride the same ride at a theme park over and over and not get bored of it.

I can only imagine these simulators being pretty fun and interesting for a short while, but getting old pretty quick.

Well if something comes to fruition; I'd assume something like Roller Coaster Tycoon alike would spawn and you'll be able to ride tracks you've created yourself.
