Wired 360 Controller Vibration issues ........... odd....

#1shadowofomiocPosted 9/12/2013 7:14:26 PM(edited)
Hey guys, I have had this system for awhile now but only ran into a major issue recently. I have known about this for a long time, but recently picked up Rayman Legends and now am totally hacked off. Why? Because for some odd reason, whenever the 360 controller SHOULD vibrate, meaning whatever is happening on screen would usually cause that action, it freezes the game and sometimes my entire system.

Anyone else had this issue? All the drivers are up to date, it doesn't just freeze for a few minutes and come back, it crashes the whole thing. At first I didn't know what caused it, but finally narrowed it down to the vibration function. The problem is, for some odd reason Rayman Legends has no option to turn off the vibration! No option anywhere. The only other game I have had this issue with is most 2K sports titles. For some reason those do not have the option to disable vibration either.

Anyone have any idea what causes this?

Can your USB port provide enough power to the controller for the vibration function? Not sure why it would freeze your system if it didn't but that's the only thing I can think of.

I thought of the same thing actually. I am able to switch back to desktop, but the game itself will usually not want to shut down. Even End Tasking the game in Task Manager it will still hang around. It will black out my main desktop screen as well, so any attempt to move to the desktop, it acts like the desktop " belongs " to the game. I am sometimes able to open a web browser or another program, but sometimes not.

I ran electrical tests on my equipment and have a 450w power supply. The current load playing heavy games like FarCry 3 or Crysis 3 was only 220w, so I do not think I am at the power barrier on my power supply.

Try another USB port and/or another cable. I really don't know, I use wireless and I have never had a problem.

I have seen some people talk about using the Xbox button to open Xbox Guide to manually turn off Vibration for EVERYTHING ... but I have never been able to figure out wth they are talking about lol. I have the latest 360 controller drivers and have never seen this xbox guide they speak of.

I hit the Xbox button and it just opens that little popup with no real extra options. Even diving into the controllers properties and such I have never seen this option.

I have tried back and front side USB's but same issue occurs. Heck I played rayman legends with my keyboard ( sucks ) and had the controller plugged in, the moment I did the ground smash which would cause vibration in the controller, freeze!
