Tomb Raider's on sale on Steam, and I almost want to get it just to test my PC.

I had to turn off the hair, it didn't work quite right with my GTX660. She was hanging upside down and her hair was flipping around like crazy, I couldn't play without laughing. Even if it works right in the videos I saw, it looks weird, like her hair can't touch her shoulders because it's hot lava.

The game seems decent enough though. Did you get Deadspace 3? That's what I use to test out graphics, that game looks nice.

Thats crazy considering your SLI 2GB 660's give you 4 total GB's of VRAM.

What are your specs?

Ultimate settings will require better than a 7970 for 60fps. It only averages ~53 fps on its own. A titan falls even below that due to AMD's superior opencl performance (which is what tressFX runs on).

edit: ^@1080p

I'm pretty sure the Titan's averages are higher than that of the 7970Ghz @ Ultimate/1080p with recent drivers. Still, you're right it does drop below 60fps in cutscenes that display close ups of Lara's full head of TressFX hair. As for gameplay, it never dips below 60fps with the aforesaid settings. :-)

Vram doesn't work like that. It doesn't add up to, your computer uses the lowest common Vram across all your GPU's.

No, I have 4gb of vram, and it still doesn't meet Lara Croft or Battlefield 4 recommended specs.

Eh, the game ran at 60+ FPS for the most part. There were times where it would drop a little lower (And when you got close enough to her hair, it would drop even further...). I don't have any proof during gameplay that it would run higher, but here is my benchmark where I average 68 FPS.

It really dipped if you went above the Ultimate Preset and turned on 4x SSAO and ultra shadows.

Was that when you only had one 7970? If so, what clocks was it at? 1080p, right? What drivers? Because mine, at 1200/1600 never dips below 47 FPS on the benchmark @1080p, with everything set to max, except FXAA instead of 4x SSAA.

Slayn insists all over this board that VRAM stacks, and thatfool12Gs was making fun of this fact.

13.3b drivers at the time. That was at 1080p with 2x SSAA and TressFX on. I had my clocks at 1235/1700. I can't hit those clocks anymore for some reason, so I generally stick to 1200/1650 now. And yes, that was when I only had one 7970.

I don't know if you decided to buy Tomb Raider yet, but if you haven't and are still interested in getting it you might want to know that Amazon is going to be selling this bundle that contains Tomb Raider, Hitman Absolution: Professional Edition and Sleeping Dogs for $13.99:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F3EFMKQ

It's going to be a two-day sale that runs from 9/17 - 9/18. Just figured I'd throw that out there since all 3 games activate on Steam and for $1.50 more than what Tomb Raider costs on Steam you get two additional games. Here's the source:

The Tress FX was really goofy the last time I played Tomb Raider. For example in the scene where she's hanging upside down her pony tail is hanging down but the rest of her hair is stuck in place. It just looks goofy.
