How can I force a game to run at 1440p?

I think there's a way in the .exe to change the resolution but I forgot how.

It's not always supported, but if you can't do it in the options menu, a lot of times you can force it by editing the INI file. You will see an entry that looks something like

HorizontalResolution=1920
VertcalResolution=1080

Just change those numbers to 2560 and 1440, save, and restart the game.

It's Madden 08 and it doesn't have an .ini file really.

Just did some research and...you can't. 1080p is the highest Madden 08 was designed to go.

Good site but why when i am clicking on a game and going to resolutions and configuration for games that support 1440p not listed under the 16:9? Like crysis 2, max payne 3 etc?? Witcher 2 and crysis 3 show they are available in 1440p so why are they missing under all games that are like 2 years old or more?

Doesn't SimCity 4 not support the 2560 vertical resolution?
