If I wanted to start playing a FPS multiplayer on PC, which one?

CS GO has an offline mode with bots. More useful than any single player campaign.

When I first made the jump I played Borderlands 2. Fast paced but you don't die over and over again.

Also give Planetside 2 a try, it's on Steam plus it's F2P.

Try Crysis 2 or 3's multiplayer.

Mount and Blade Warband. You'll have fun shooting people with arrows and crossbow bolts.

Battlefield is my personal fav. It has some of the most varying gameplay IMO. You can be a foot solider and work in squad, you can be a sniper and be the lone wolf, you can be the anti tank guy, you can go in vehicles, you can run around throwing C4 at crap.

Call of Duty is more fast action, die, respawn in 2 seconds, etc.

CS:GO is for the really "hardcore" dedicated crowd. Personally I find it to be no fun, especially since everyone who plays it is really REALLY in to the game. For me it is hard to get back in to.

TF2 is probably one of the most casual FPS I ever played. No one tries hard on any server I ever played on. Having said that, it is my 2nd fav FPS, because it is a ton of fun. Usually people talk on the mic, but it's almost always more of a chat session and screwing around.

L4D I don't like the community, because if you don't speed run through a level ( ie. you don't play much ), people get mad. I have never been kicked so many times in all video games combined than one day after coming back to L4D, having not played for about 2 years.

You can buy a $500 console and a $500 computer and have two crap machines, or you can spend $1000 building your own computer and have the best of both worlds.

Counter strike is fantastic though it can be hard to break into, but once you get the hang of it it's super fun.
