This is what really pisses me off about Windows.

This is mainly about Windows 8 but pretty sure every other Windows has done this bs before.

I need to leave my house and do other things. I turn off my PC. Oh wait...now updating.

Hmm this shouldn't take long! My internet is bad ass. I download most 5-10 gb games in 3 hours at the most. Usually 1.5-2 hours.

Update is only at 16 percent after almost an hour. Fantastic...

I wait longer and its at 17. Oh great, amazing! Now I have to turn off the damn thing and turn it on again.

Repeat this whole process 3 more times and you might have a chance of being able to turn it off.

When you turn it off, you can finally leave the ****ing house with your computer off.

You turn on the pc when you come back. Updating....

Son of a ****** AGAIN these updates don't even ****ing work!!!!!

What pisses me off even more is if I manually turn it off from the shut off screen, it only gives me the option to "Restart and update" or "update and turn off." Where's the option to not update at all?

Amazing.

Or just leave it updating and it'll turn off when it's done?

The option not to update is Start | Run | shutdown -s -t 0
I don't see what the problem would be to pick "Update and turn off" in your situation though...

Never once had that issue. Even complete reinstalls of all the OS' I've used take less than an hour each. Something is up with your pc.

Windows Update problems are really annoying. Sometimes they install super slow, sometimes they fail with absolutely no reason given as to why. It's usually a pretty quick fix but it's annoying to have to deal with it in the first place.

If you have a laptop that you have to carry eith tou then I see that can be a big problem
But if it's a desktop then just leave it there and get out of the house?

Oh I forgot to mention, http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/

That works, sometimes. There is also a Windows Update repair utility on tweaking.com that I've had pretty good luck with.

The point is, is that it freezes at 16, 17, or 18 percent.

Google it. It's not my PC, its a faulty update that Microsoft itself has acknowledged.
