Refurbished Desktop?

#1anyninjaPosted 9/15/2013 3:24:14 PM
Is it a good idea to buy a refurbished desktop? My budget for a new desktop is 700$. I can get a new one with an i5 processor for that amount, or a refurb with an i7 for the same cost.

I generally use a computer for a few years if it doesn't break; I don't upgrade components.

Does anyone have experience with or knowledge of refurbished desktops? Especially from Newegg?

What are some problems I can run into with a refurb?

I'd worry how long the warranty is. Sometimes its shorter on refurbished products.

I read the term "recertified" has something to do with warranties..

..bump..

Do you have the rest of the specs for the i7 PC?

In my experience, very rarely a CPU breaks down, unless it was submit to overheating/overvolting. So really the only part that would worry me would be the motherboard, and that would be cheaper than any i7 to replace.
