the built-in speakers are pretty damn horrible so i'm looking for an alternative.

instead of basic speakers i have a surround sound system with all speakers going through the subwoofer and i looked up a method which as i understand it means plugging in the regular composite cables that come with the xbox and then use an rca adapter and connect the red/white audio cables but after that where should i connect the adapter?

any available audio jack like on the front panel or does it have to go into the subwoofer?

cuz i'm pretty damn sure more PC gamers have tried hooking up their 360 to a computer monitor than the other way around.

I don't think this will work the way you think it does. If the cables hook up anywhere though, it would be directly to the subwoofer.

You can buy a $500 console and a $500 computer and have two crap machines, or you can spend $1000 building your own computer and have the best of both worlds.

What type of connection/cable is the "adapter" you are talking about.

Sorry for any mispellings; my phone sucks and I am sometimes too lazy to correct.

that's if you're under the assumption that pc players give a damn about consoles, and most don't because they're terribly misguided.

that being said, you would have more luck on the 360 general board.

however, i can answer your question.

i'm assuming you have an hdmi port on your xbox, and also that your surround sound thing has red/white ports.

what you do is, remove the plastic shell around the composite cords main outport ( the part that plugs into the xbox.) then, you're able to have that plugged in with the audio going to your surround sound and the hdmi cable in going to your monitor.

alternatively, if you have a slim xbox, just get an optical audio cable and plug that into your surround sound.

i actually never checked but it does indeed which saves me the trouble of buying an adapter.

it actually has 4 ports(2 for front and 2 for back speakers)... so would it work if i just connected two speakers and then the 360 composite audio cable into the rest?

also, that plastic thing is an incredibly idiotic design.

Those ports sound like outputs. You need to find out what kind of input it has if it has any. If you can link to the sound system, then that would help.

it has two audio inputs that i have currently hooked up to my computer... 1 for front and back(black and green apparently).
