Actually shocked GTA V is not releasing for PC

#1TheRealMrDCPosted 9/16/2013 2:41:08 AM
I fully expected to see it on Steam tomorrow... This is a mammoth title, why the hell is it console-only? So impatient folks rush out and buy a console version then get a PC copy as well a couple months later?

Exactly. If they released it the same day as the console versions, everybody who could would only get the PC version (no point in getting the console version when you have the PC version after all). By releasing the console versions before even announcing a PC version, they figure that a lot of PC gamers will give in and just get it on console and then buy it AGAIN on PC.

Why are you shocked when every GTA since III has released on console first and come to the PC some months later?

This isn't a suprise.

The game is huge and has a huge budget. Most likely it would have been too costly to make the PC version at the same time or would have taken too much time. They finish the console version and then they have a team focus on the porting. Rockstar will also be busy with GTA online and any other projects they have too.

Notice how the Wii U didn't get this game either.

It's just a matter of waiting and hoping for the best.

Surprised why? You do realize that most developers prefer to release games on consoles right. It has to do with PC gamers deciding to spend significantly less on their new games than console gamers.

I don't think they've officially said anything, but there have been a few hints.

There was the pre-order for the Special Edition on PC at the Amazon.de store, the news that Rockstar was looking for people to port games to other systems, the thing from Nvidia (which they said they were just making a guess that it would come to PC), and now this:

It'll more than likely be released for PC, although I reckon there is an 75% chance it will be a poorly optimized mess of a port.

Just a "Not at this time", which is their stock response for everything.
