I'd like something that rewards player thinking and involves strategy I've tried and hated SC2, Total War: Rome II, but I love are Sniper Elite V2

You can buy a $500 console and a $500 computer and have two crap machines, or you can spend $1000 building your own computer and have the best of both worlds.

Now that I think about it, most of the best co-op games were old and/or on consoles. I'll try to target newer PC titles somewhat:

Resident Evil 5 (HUGELY underrated imo, naysayers probably didn't play through with a friend like I did.)
Trine 2
Legend of Dungeon
Magicka
A Valley Without Wind 2
That recent Half-Life mod whose name escapes me
Diablo II
Guardian Heroes
Perfect Dark (Perfect Agent difficulty, one of the best gaming experiences out there.)
Obscure
Toejam and Earl

Gotta bring up Portal 2 when talking about co-op. Amazing game.

Hey, I explained my reasons. SC2 just isn't as good as BW and WC3, AT vs RT makes team games unbearable. It also rewards mechanics more than thinking. It isn't a very good RTS if you like being creative or coming up with your own strategies, especially since 99% of its fanbase just spends all day watching pro games and copying their builds, so even if you are creative it will be boring since no one else will be.

There might be appeal in that to some, but not for me. You can also talk all about its 1v1 but this is about co-op, and team games are completely imbalanced in SC2, unlike WC3's, and don't even have an unally feature like in BW.

Rome II sounded good but I couldn't get over how historically inaccurate it is. The pyramids are the wrong colour, the Romans and such speak English and can't pronounce names like Gaius correctly (which is Ga-yoos), the Egyptians aren't a Celtic-speaking tribe of Europeans, a lot of their armour is wrong and their technology in general isn't done well, etc.

I enjoyed Payday: The Heist. Haven't played the second one yet, but I've heard it's really good.

How about some good 5 player coop games?

Recently my group of friends has had 5 players and we are having a hell of a time trying to find games we can all play together. Apparently no gamers have more than 3 friends, so all cooperative games are limited to 4 players. It's giving us trouble.

We need some good 5 player games (no MMORPGs please).
