Will Square release FF8 and 9 on Steam?

#1VanderZooPosted 9/17/2013 7:02:08 PM
Like what they did with FF7? Because I'm playing through FF7 atm and it's awesome, the higher resolution and framerate makes this game a dream to play. I'm also using xpadder so that it works perfectly with the 360 controller and it's all just awesome.

What are the chances of Square doing this for FF8 and 9 as well? Especially 9, I've already beaten it on PS1, but I'd love to play through it again like I am with FF7.

From what I gather, FF8 had a PC release, FF9 didn't. So there would be a SLIM chance of getting FF8, improbable to get FF9.

I hope so, but I really doubt FFIX is coming. FFVII and FFVIII both had PC ports, but FFIX did not.(Probably because it came out when Microsoft was getting ready to enter the console market)
Really, though, I'd much rather VIII and IX than VII. Though VIII is particularly broken.

I used a 360 controller and it worked out of the box?

Another idea I had was the spy/sniper being able to climb into the soldier's rocket launcher and be launched across the map, dealing more damage, but no splash.

Ohh, right you are, here's the link:

Great news, seems like FF9 will eventually make it out as well then.

Wired or wireless? Anyway I heard you have to change some input with the controller or something so maybe mines a different setting, but it wouldn't work with it. But xpadder makes it work flawlessly anyway.

No it's just a re-release of the PC version that came out years ago to play nice with modern resolutions.

It isn't a confirmation that FF9 is coming out.

Looking at the file structure for the Steam version of FF7 it is identical to the 1998 PC release that was released on 4 CDs (1 Install disc and 3 play discs). FF8 was also released on 5 disc PC version back in 2000, In fact I own a copy of it.

Here's a picture of it - http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/6286/ff8pcusace9.jpg

Just as the Digital re-release of FF7 was based on the old CD version, the same is likely for the FF8 too.

I know I've played FF8 on PC as well. But one like FF7 would be more convenient, no discs, more resolutions supported, better controller support. And I know FF9 hasn't been confirmed, but there just appears to be a trend. FF7 was re-released, FF8 is, it's logical to assume FF9 as well down the road, hopefully.

The likelihood of seeing FFIX on PC is next to nil. Don't get your hopes up. If you want to play it, seek other means.
