I bought total war Rome 2 and haven't really been able to play it lol. I mean it runs but its super slow on the campaign map. I have an AMD Phenom 9550 quad core prosseser with 8190 MB RAM. My graphics card is a NVIDIA Geforce 9800 gt and the total memory is 4069 MB.

I was wondering what I have to update to play this game on max setting. Also could I just buy another prosseser from the same company and keep my motherboard? Thx in advance lol dont know anything about computers.

The graphic card is the first you need to upgrade.

Play on max? Full replace.
Play on more reasonable settings? Probably nothing.

Your CPU is really weak and should be upgraded as well. RTS games are pretty CPU-reliant.

Just...make a new build entirely. Everything new. And go Intel.
