my monitor is using a dvd-d i think(9pins and a gap and 9 more pins)
i have a dellm6500 and it only has a vga output, what is the cheapest solution to get the monitor to display my laptop as an extended screen, i see some things on newegg but i want to make sure i buy the right one
ok so my laptop has VGA output....my monitor takes dvi or vga(forgot it took vga so its actually working)
the display is not very sharp ...so my laptop using vga to monitor vga right now...its possible to turn my vga into dvi right? that way my monitor will accept dvi(monitor) from a vga(laptop)
It is possible to convert VGA to DVI using a converter box, but that's pointless since your monitor already accepts VGA. Converting from VGA to DVI will not improve the picture quality. It may even drop the quality a bit if the converter is a low quality one. If you are having picture quality issues, then you can try a different VGA cable. Besides doing that there is nothing else you can do to try to improve the picture quality.
Yeah... HDMI should work fine. For future reference tho, converting VGA to DVI won't improve the quality - it's still an analog source signal, and you can't get better than the source. The only real reason to convert VGA to DVI is if your display doesn't have a VGA input, and your only output option is VGA.
