Is Linux the future of gaming?

#1aPCplayerPosted 9/18/2013 6:08:16 PM
I think Gabe is just butt hurt like the rest of us that Windows 8 was a disappointment but I think it really go to his head. I tried Linux for like a week and it is very hard to troubleshoot problems on it and install applications imo. I think it will be interesting though if Linux somehow takes off because no matter what, most people will always use a Windows machine. Half-Life 3 confirmed Linux exclusive.

Maybe in the distant future.

It's more likely apple will take over and pc gaming will die.

Considering Linux doesn't exist as a single entity, no. What may be the future is specific distributions tied to hardware like Android and Chrome OS but no way in hell is what the average plebe considers Linux to be going to be the future.

If the rumors that Windows 10 is going to be a cloud OS are true, then yes.

If this happens I would never even PC game. I find that to be one of the worst ideas to buy an OS that you technically don't own and the NSA has full access to 24/7. It would be interesting to see Linux finally pick up gaming and improve it but I just don't think the average person that plays League of Legends all the time will install a Linux distro and know how to fully operate it.

I wouldn't mind if Linux was the future of gaming. It's just hard to imagine it happening though.

You never know anything is possible. The idea for steam was pretty revolutionary back in the day. I read that Gaben said he went to different companies with the idea but, they wouldn't listen. Look where steam is now everyone is trying to copy them now because of their success.

So long as the OS is comfortable and convenient, I'm all good.

Also, it has to be customizable and not have the window buttons on the left like Crapple.

You don't know what you're talking about, do you? It's on the developers to move it over to linux. They have the tools they need.
