Ya saw that earlier, sold out though :(. Im always cautious about buying monitors online though... i dont want to get a damaged one delivered. I was hoping to find a good one at best buy but best buy surprisingly has no good gaming monitors in stock (in the local store)

Is it bad to use a TV as your gaming monitor as well? I was looking at this Samsung tv.

Any other suggestions for a monitor under 300 bucks? Im reading that the 1440p resolution isnt optimal as most games wont scale well to it

Only in the sense that because it displays 1.78x the amount of pixels than 1080p (and a consequent increase in detail), you only end up with 56% of the performance you would have had otherwise.

If you are to get a 120hz monitor, get one with lightboost.

in terms of affordability (taking into account the machine needed to get worthwhile benefit):
60hz 1080p TN > 60hz 1080p IPS > 120hz 1080p TN > 60hz 1440p IPS

There are also those korean overclockable 1440p IPS monitors, but whether you want to meddle with them is another matter, and not for the unsavvy.

tvs can come with unwanted input lag

The best course of action is to just get the information you need, then get out while you're still alive. - destroy everything on GameFAQs

1440p is the same 16:9 as 1080p... and mine runs at 120hz right out the box.

You can buy a $500 console and a $500 computer and have two crap machines, or you can spend $1000 building your own computer and have the best of both worlds.

What do you think of using this monitor, and using a HDMI switch to connect a PS4 and PC to it? Or is using a HDMI switch going to cut the quality?
