Not seeing the problem with the Metro interface.

Way more intuitive to navigate than:

I can't believe people prefer that mess. It's disgusting.

Oh look, more people moaning about Windows 8 who now hate everything about it despite it being objectively better in many ways (sure there's a few bits that are subjective but still.)

I'm just here for the candy corn.

Windows 8 is great and you should feel ashamed.

Just install ClassicShell. Ignore the Metro interface completely afterwards.

Agreed with this. Even on touchscreen devices, I am not a fan of the windows 8 metro UI. Not that previous windows versions had interfaces that made a lot of sense, but at least we got used to it.

I seriously want to give it a shot on a home PC. It doesn't seem so bad and I'd like to tinker with it, but I'm already so comfortable with 7.

I'm scared of change. Why can't everything stay the same forever?

Whenever people go on about being "scared of change", I'm just thinking "I like to fix things for no reason to make them less user friendly and objectively worse than they were before".

Change isn't bad if it's needed or welcome, the problem arises when you try to "fix" something that isn't broken to begin with. There's NO reason for a desktop user to need most of the changes windows 8 has brought. It's making people relearn the way they use a computer all over again and there aren't even tangible benefits. It's kinda like you go on vacation and when you get back all your furniture and everything is rearranged without your consent. You now have to relearn where everything is just so you can use it like you would normally. Tasks that would take you 5 seconds now take 30 because you're screwing around trying to find out where everything is, and there's a general loss in productivity. And what are the benefits? Oh wait, there are none.

And were you whining when they fixed things for no good reason and made them objectively worse than before by adding a GUI to DOS? Or how about when they did the same by adding a start menu to Windows 95? Or how about that time they switched off DOS underpinnings and broke near everything to get us onto Win2k/XP?
