Help with laptop

#1Crisis_UKPosted 9/20/2013 5:23:39 AM
Look's like I'm buying the Mrs a laptop for xmas and was after a little help with configuring one.

For a bit of information, it's mainly to play WoW and the Sims...however, she is really into the Dragon Age series and is looking forward to Dragon Age 3 so she would like to be able to play it on decent settings, not necessarily at ultra but high would be nice. She only really plays RPG's and nothing else, I know this is a generic selection of games but you get the gist of it.

Anyway, this is what I've come up with so far. I haven't really got a clue about chassis' but she said she likes the look of this one and its 17" which is what she wants (no innuendo meant)

a 770m will play most things on high @ 1920x1080, some max
any non ulv i7 is good

you're looking at $1300-$1600 after taxes though but it's your wife so whatever man. if you want to save some money and don't care about the limited portability of a 17.3" laptop, build her a computer

I tried to convince her to get a new desktop but she said she wanted a laptop :(

What do you mean "any non ulv i7 is good"?

Ulv i7s aren't good for gaming. They have very low tdp but their performance is worse compared to standard i7s. They are made for ultrabooks, i doubt you will find any of them on gaming laptops.
