Why does my 2gb GPU show 4gb memory in dxdiag?

its gtx 760 tf shouldn't it show 2gb approx memory rather than 4 under the display tab in dxdiag

dxdiag is not reliable for that. Use GPU-Z.
I have a 7970 and it's reporting 10 GB of VRAM. Obviously that's not accurate.

I've always had problems with dxdiag showing an incorrect amount of VRAM.

It lists my 780 as having 6763 MB of Approx. Total Memory.

Try another program.
