how is a 6870 compared to ps4 graphics?

#1pairenoidPosted 9/21/2013 10:37:31 AM
so i always thought my pc was pretty beast..although its old now..most of the time if a game came out on ps3 and pc, i bought it on pc to make it look sexier..

so for ps4 games that come out on pc, will i still be looking better on pc? i luv both gaming platforms so this is not a fanboy topic. Personally i would prefer a ps4 with the controller+tv and couch setting, but pc is usually cheaper.

sell your 6870, get a 760 and ps4 won't even be able to touch it.

PC hardware doesn't need to match console hardware in price when PC gamers save literal thousands from the software they buy. http://www.steamgamesales.com/

It's good, but a bit weaker. It will easily last another few years, and then you can just get another midrange card for $200 or so which should last the generation.

Probably approximately Xbone level, but not up to the PS4 (PS4 is probably closer to 6970 in that series).

It's won't hold a candle to whatever is in the PS4 when you look at the big picture.

PC GPU's are always going to be more powerful technically since we can go straight to the vendors.

But, the consoles have the software advantage so their hardware will age much more gracefully. You are going to need to seriously outpower their hardware in the beginning to win in the end.

Some have speculated that optimization will trump my 7970 within a year.Yeah, we'll see

Ps4 has a 7970m laptop gpu paired as an APU with an 8 core processor with 8 weak cores (1.8) of which only 6 are used. It's really not as powerful as people are making it out to be it. It's a huge step up from the ps3 but is further behind a mid range gaming pc of 2013 than the ps3 was against a mid range gaming pc of 2006.

The HD 6870 should be ok for yet some years, but the PS4's GPU is both more powerful and supports more features

It also seems like AMD doesn't improve the performance for their older cards anymore, AMD seems to be focusing totally on their GCN based cards

That has always been the case with consoles, but not this time.

This time there is virtually no learning curve. They're working on basically PC architecture. They already know everything it can do. The early PS4 games are not going to look way worse than the later PS4 games.
