How is this PC build?

#1acetrainer95Posted 9/22/2013 2:58:49 AM
My friend wanted a gaming PC and these are the parts I picked for him. Had the staff at the store assemble it.

Motherboard: GA-Z77M-D3H
Processor: Intel i3 3220
GPU: MSI GTX 650 Ti Boost
Case: Aerocool Strike X One Advance
PSU: Aerocool Strike X 600W
8GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium

Costs around $800, note that I don't live in NA so some parts might be more expensive. Is there anything wrong with it?

I'd at least try to get an i5. Go with a 3470 and a b85 motherboard.

B85 is LGA1150, it won't work with an i5-3470. You're thinking of B75.
Or you meant an i5-4430 with B85.
Agreed on the principle though :)
Or at least, now that Haswell Core i3s are out, one of those (e.g. i3-4330) -- with a B85 motherboard.

I'm not familiar with that brand, and with PSUs, if in doubt, avoid, avoid, avoid.

Why not ask before buying the parts?

It'll run games man. An i3 is fine for the moment but remember most games are going to be optimized for 8 cores in the next 2-3 years due to the implementation of the "next gen" consoles. However I still think it's a great setup overall. To put things in perspective you could run most games in HD like at 720P or even 1080P depending on settings. It's a good setup.

See that crappy PSU in my sig? Been working great for almost 2 years. Would I get it again over a Corsair or a Seasonic? No, but all companies have to start somewhere.

With that said, his PSU sucks and I would never buy a POS like that.

"working great" for "almost 2 years" doesn't really mean much, especially when your sample data consists of a single person.
