like consoles right?
pc = piracy , 5$ that goes to developers
consoles = piracy, 50$ used market that never gets to developers

Console install base as a whole is at least 10x larger than PC.

Games I'm currently playing: Star Ocean 2 (Ps1), Legend of Zelda OoT (N64).

Stupid people who are fickle and unreliable outnumber intelligent loyal people by a factor of at least 10 as well.

The latter group will get you more money in the long run and most of those game on PC.

With mass piracy, and everyone ignoring a game until it's $5, PC doesn't exactly excite me.

Granted with the post-release mess surrounding the game that does a fine job of illustrating maybe why you shouldn't buy something before it's out.

If I was a developer I would rather have $5 than have $0 from a used copy that could be sold and resold several times. Don't forget, developers have to pay the console makers to develop a game for the console, where as on PC they don't. Your going to have to do better mate, your slipping.

All this talk on piracy. It goes both ways. Also about waiting to buy the games cheap, console users do the same damn thing. Hell in consoles many people wait much longer to buy cheap than pc gamers.

Only two console brands on the market: Nintendo and Xboxstation. There used to be three, but sadly the PlayStation identity died with the PS2.

when someone pirates where are devs getting this $5 from?

also why do pc gamers try to force themselves into every console war? constantly trying to compare something that is mass produced to something that they customized themselves. I personally go the ps3 and soon ps4 route, but I also have a gaming pc. pc would never be my main gaming selection and I probably have about 10 reasons why, but that doesnt mean anything just my personal reasons.

console gamers obviously dont care about whatever advantages pc gamers feel they have just like pc gamers shouldnt care. they both have their positives and negatives, there is no clear cut winner, its all personal opinion.

What if I told you, that cheap games on sale actually generate more revenue for the developers?

Then I would ask you to clarify - more revenue than what? I very much doubt, for instance, that you could identify a cheap game on sale which has generated revenue comparable to GTA V.

When discussing multiplatform games, PC as a platform is the clear cut winner. This is not personal opinion - this is a fact that cannot be disputed without regurgitating the usual misinformation. Anyone insisting there are "pros and cons" is deluding themselves to justify the investment in the console that they've bought or decided to buy.

The informed gamer picks PC as a main platform. The only reasons to even bother with consoles would be exclusives, online community, and the occasional multiplatform game with local multiplayer options cut from PC port (which are pretty rare in this online-focused console generation and likely to be rarer in the next).

I'll agree with this. Dark Souls is an example. The dev's were impressed with the revenue of the pc port (one that is always on sale) so much that they are taking extra care for the PC sequel.

No, they're taking extra care of the PC port for the sequel because the Dark Souls they gave us was garbage for a port, it had to be modded to make it even decent. They don't want to get laughed again.

If I really want a game, I buy it preorder or the day it comes out, or the first chance I get... If I don't REALLY care for a game on PC I wait for it to go on sale and that way when it turns out that I didn't really enjoy it, well at least it only cost me $10 instead of $60.

The thing is, you could argue all day and all night about how waiting to buy it at 1/6th the price is bad, except that remember: I was never going to buy it for $60 because I didn't really want it in the first place. Now by lowering the price, they got some money out of me.

The console version of this is going to gamestop and buying something used, except their used prices are damn near the same as the new, and none of that money gets to the developers.
