ummm.... you don't have to update the bios if it's stable, but you sure can if it's not the latest version.

Unless it fixes some particular issue you're having or adds some feature you know you're going to need I'd probably not do it.

Go see if there are any updates. If there are, look at the changelog. Does it contain fixes/updates that are relevant to you? If so, download the update.

They'll get you up and running at which point you can let Windows Update take care of any updates for them.
