How much of a performance upgrade is this?

A large increase in performance, but the RAM won't change much. You should use the RAM you have and use the money you would have spent on a 7970 or an SSD

Agree. Unless you do heavy media editing, you do not need more than 8GB right now, and even overclocking RAM doesn't yield much performance in gaming. Money is better spent on a more powerful GPU for games, or an SSD which will make all aspects of using your PC a lot more pleasant.

Will this tower support two hard drives?

I have a Western digital 1.5TB Caviar green hard drive right now but its 3 years old. I was looking into replacing this POS with a western digital wd black 500 GB gaming hard drive coupled with a new samsung 840 evo 128 GB SSD, thats all i can afford. also can you store your OS and games only on your SSD and all other programs and documents on your hard drive?

Of course.

Also of course, although I would recommend putting your OS and your non-gaming programs and some games on the SSD, and the rest on the hard drive. Most games don't really benefit from being on an SSD, resulting in wasted space.

Wait, why don't you just reuse the RAM modules that you already have?

Not that many games have PhysX, so you can just run it off of your CPU.

The best Nvidia card under 300 is a 4 GB 760. It's up to you whether Physx is worth less performance from the card, and if it is then that's your best bet.

I have an i5, and that's a major PITA to do.
I don't like my fps in the 15's.
