Holy CRAP I thought youtube capped at 30fps??

How much are you spending on a new monitor? If its less than 250 it likely won't have 120hz capability. So that said, your 660 will smoke both those games easily getting the full 60fps. Might even be capable of 120 if you turn of AA (antialiasing which is just an option for getting rid of the 'jaggies' which will be negligible at 1080p+ resolutions anyways).

My friend actually got all of the parts and estimated prices written down for me... But he forgot to add the monitor... Well I'll probably just stick with the 60hz one.

Oh and I just downloaded Fraps. I'm getting 40fps on that YT video :L

Yeah, typically, console games run below 30fps a lot of the time.
I wonder if anyone noticed that the video doubles up frames, though. That's the real reason it looks smooth. Each 30th of a second contains two frames layered over eachother.

p much, frame blending

for those unaware, it's essentially a brute force mimicry of object motion blur, add enough frames and you'll get the actual effect, when temporal bias is accounted for

60FPS my ass. Its playing it at 30fps just like YT.

Its 60 fps here. Going full screen has fraps telling me so and its quite a bit smoother as expected.

My FRAPS be bugged then....

downloaded the source video, both madVR and a frame-by-frame come in at 60 (or 59.940 to be precise). alan wake also has some form of motion blur

if you want to get a feel for how many discreet frames we can benefit from, think about how many frames we would need to get that blurred spinning tyre effect you see on cars going by (when you track the wheel with your eye)

any game that does that now is doing so with object motion blur

So how about for Mass Effect 2? Or Deus Ex HR?

ME2 can probably net you easily 120+ most of the time. Unreal Engine 3 games prior to 2010 or so aren't very demanding at all.
Deus Ex might be a bit tougher, but I'm pretty sure it'd run largely 50-80fps if your CPU allows.

I think I've had Human Revolution open with fraps and I easily got 140+ at absolute max settings.
