Yes but only on the low numbers. You hardly see any improvement for going above 1866

For Intel systems up until SB and the change to a fixed base clock it made more of a difference than it does now; where it's pointless going above 1600.

Frequency is frequency there are also timings. The speed of the ram is the frequency relative to the timings.
