I use a 24GB RAM drive to record to using my capture card. I don't need to do it, but since I got such a great deal on RAM, I might as well use as much of it as I can.
Gee, it sure is boring around here. *rolls eyes*

I just started using Dimmdrive.

Oh really? :)

The dimmdrive.com ramdisk software has a pretty big update to address large ram sizes. I'm veery excited and have gotten a ton of feedback on it!

Now, I use Dimmdrive. Thanks, TimDD! I've been letting everyone, here, know about it.

As much as I'd love to use Dimmdrive or something similar, I've only got 8gb ram so it's not currently worth the cost for me.

Edit: while I'm at it though, are there any free programs that do this?

No but it's something I should definitely get setup sooner rather than later. I got 16GB and only ever use a fraction of it.

Not worth it.

Even when I load in 5 seconds in League of Legends I still have to wait one minute or more for the other 9 people.
Even if I instantly load in Starcraft 2 I still have to wait for the other person.

With two SSDs in RAID0 I'm practically already beating 99% of the people I meet in online games in terms of load time so I don't see the point of loading up RAM with games right now.

It's not worth it for online games of course, but for offline it is.

I can't with just 4GB. I might put Minecraft in a RAMdisk though because of how little space it requires and it helps load chunks so much.

I have never heard of RAMDisk until now. It sounds pretty awesome for HDD's, but my SSD is good enough for now.
