Steam believes consoles are superior to PC, thus the creation of SteamOS.

PC has always been powerful, but give it the magic of closed console abilities, all of the sudden your PC is instantly upgraded to super saiyan pc thanks to the magic of console powers.

At least that's the impression I am getting.
Which sounds godly

"Closed console abilities"?

You do know that SteamOS....is just linux, right? And the "Steambox" is a bunch of different computers made by a bunch of difference companies....so it's literally the exact same as any PC that exists running any OS that exists....derp

It's for stupid peasants that need everything done for them, that's it

Yea, but linux is garbage as it's highly user unfriendly.
If steamOS cuts the fat from what windows uses that makes the linux like OS more user friendly then you have a winner.

With linux you practically have to recompile your game just to play it.
Who the f*** wants to do that? lol

As a Linux wouldn't SteamOS be more open than Windows?

Yea, but linux is garbage as it's highly user unfriendly.

It can be configured pretty Windows-like but at the very least I'm sure Valve can figure SteamOS to go straight to the regular SteamUI on startup.

If it offered better performance by having an executable tailored specifically to your system?

Like I said, it's for stupid peasants who don't know how to do things. But that doesn't give it magic "closed console abilities", it's going to run games exactly like they run...on linux...because that's what it is.

Which console board did you come from?

It is more correct to say that Valve is trying to give new console-to-PC switchers an easier time.

Linux is user-friendly.

It is not idiot-friendly.

If you find Linux hard to use, well...

You are forgetting that Android is Linux based OS and easier to use than most Linux based versions.

To be fair, I want to play or use something as soon as I click it's executable.
If I wanted to take my time to go into several steps every time I wanted to use something I'd use linux.

This is why I never cared much for dos, dos wasn't hard at all, but over time the human mind tends to forget things that are not super important; making dos a bit of a hassle.

Everything is easier when you have a good GUI.
