I don't like the way today's poll is phrased

Don't they know you can already play PC games on TV with HDMI?

This confused me too as this is precisely what I do for racing games and rpgs, when I want to sit back and chill.

Of course when I'm playing an fps or rts I've gotta have my face in the screen and I want a headset.

The poll is clear, it's just a console that allows you to play Steam games on your TV, maybe the part where play PC on PC, etc.. but really that's clear as well, obviously speaking in terms of a computer display.

It's all irrelevant, because according to the poll on this site, if it's any indication. The Steambox is going to flop faster than Gabe's fat rolls when he removes his shirt.

Good thing it's not an indication, it never is.

It's not but seriously, only the hardcore Gabe drones would probably buy it and maybe a few other people. We do however lack any information on how much one would cost. It's probably a lot more cost efficient to just build your own since it's OS is free.Steam isn't Microsoft, etc who can sell a system a loss, because for one part, they make money on software sales. If a person already owns a library of Steam games, what else would they buy? From their new customers? With lack of proper advertisement it'll never reach that and they would have to omit the word PC from it's ad also

Not to mention it doesn't even play all Steam games, only those with Linux/Open GL support, you still need a gaming PC capable of playing some games.

It's looking like a glorified indy box machine

Well yes, it's certainly hit or miss at this stage. Being a "glorified indy box" sounds great to me. It probably something that might need a fair amount of time to be taken seriously, much like Steam itself.

So since I have a TV as a monitor my computer is a Steam Machine?

Yeah this poll is pretty bad. What I'd like to say is "but I can already do that. It's called a hdmi cable. " I actually play half my PC games on my nice big wall-mounted TV.
