USB 3.0 ports not working correctly

#1YaLikeDagsPosted 9/26/2013 8:19:00 PM
Bought a usb 3.0 flash drive (sandisk extreme) and it was working fine for the first day, but now every time I plug the drive into a usb 3.0 port, my pc does not recognize it. nothing happens. i can plug a usb 2.0 stick into the 3.0 port and it works fine, i can even plug the usb 3.0 stick into the 2.0 ports and it works as well. all of my 3.0 ports seem to be acting this way.

i have a asrock z77 extreme6 motherboard

i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the usb 3.0 drivers, rolling back the bios, but nothing is working. any ideas?

Did you try to turn it off and then on again?

Do you have another device that uses 3.0, maybe its the flash drive.

Could easily be the flash drive, I have two (out of a total of 3) that mysteriously got f***ed up and now only let me use like 1/50th of their capacity. Always did the "safely remove hardware" thing as far as I remember.

Are you overclocked?

Only thing overclocked in my PC is my GPU. It's the 670 ftw edition so it came overclocked from the factory. Didn't mess with it beyond that.

Out of curiosity, how would overclocking affect this situation?

Make sure all of the USB functions are enabled in the BIOS/UEFI.
